The Belgreen girls basketball team improved to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in Area 15 play with a 57-44 victory against Tharptown Tuesday night.
The Lady Bulldogs had four players score in double digits, led by Deborah Billingham and Amber Smith with 13 points each. Martha Billingham added 11 points while Anna DeVaney scored 10.
"We knew this would be a hard game because Tharptown has a strong group of girls returning from last season and they're a big run-and-gun team," said Belgreen coach Shauna Humphries.
Laken Barnett led the Lady Wildcats with 16 points while Hollie Hines added 15.
Belgreen led 15-13 after the first quarter and pushed its lead to 28-24 at halftime.
A strong third quarter allowed the Lady Bulldogs to pull away as they outscored the Lady Wildcats 14-7.
With the loss, Tharptown falls to 1-1 overall and 0-1 in Area 15.
