By now Brent Calloway is use to being the go-to running back in Russellville's backfield.
During Friday's state quarterfinal game, however, Calloway was given more pressure than he has had to handle all season.
Aside from the fact Russellville was hoping to knock undefeated Hartselle out of the playoffs, quarterback Joey Howe injured his ankle late in the second quarter.
Calloway was going to have to carry not only the ball, but also his team.
He finished the night with 166 rushing yards on 33 carries. He also had a 14-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.
"The last game I only had two carries," Calloway said. "I was thinking they haven't seen me much."
Calloway's most valuable runs came in the second half as he picked up a handful of crucial first downs that allowed Russellville to run the clock down and hold on for a 13-6 victory.
