Listerhill collecting cards for soldiers

Members and employees of Listerhill Credit Union are working to spread a little holiday cheer overseas to soliders deployed this Christmas.
Kristen Mashburn said that Listerhill has joined the nationwide campaign to collect greeting cards for soldiers in Iraq, and will be collecting cards until Dec. 10 for the project.
"We first learned about this from a news channel from Huntsville, and we decided to make the project ours for the holiday," Mashburn said.
The cards will be sent to the soldiers in appreciation of their service and with holiday wishes. Cards can be dropped off at any Listerhill location and will be distributed by the USO.
"In addition to the greeting card donation, we are asking for monetary donations so that phone cards can be purchased by the USO so that deployed soldiers can phone home during the holidays," Mashburn said. "We hear about soldiers who are serving far from home and receive no cards, letters, or items from home. This project lets them know that we care."
