Maudie White, 89, of Red Bay, Ala., passed away Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, at her residence.
She was born July 6, 1919, in Franklin County to Willis Arnold and Frona Puckett Bohannon. She was a member of Palestine Church of God.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Dec. 14 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay with Bro. Greg Pace officiating. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
She is survived by herdaughter, Jackie Harrison and husband Edward of Red Bay; son, Guy Fisher and wife Ann of Tishomingo, Miss.; grandchildren, Janice Beal of Vernon, Judy Barrett and husband Darrion of Vina, Jennifer Puckett and husband Eddie of the Burnout Community and Chad Fisher of Sykeston, Mo.; great-grandchildren, Bobby Beal III and wife Mistie, Jamie Lee Nichols, Kevin Barrett, Jayla Puckett and Jordan Puckett; and great-great-grandchildren, Chelsea Beal, Chase Bonner, Julie Nichols and Brandon Nichols.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy White, her parents and six brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers were Bobby R. Beal III, Thomas Epps, Darrell Ray, Dale Ray, Billy Stidham and Dwight White.
Charles R. Lawler

Charles R. Lawler, 83, of Hodges, Ala., passed away Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, at his residence.
A native of Franklin County, he was born April 10, 1925, to John and Ollie Ayers Lawler. He was an employee of the Alabama State Highway Department for 33 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 13 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay with Bro. Dan Hindman and Bro. Marty Guidry officiating. Burial was in Old Line Cemetery in Hodges.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Imogene Lawler of Hodges; sons, Dwight Lawler and wife Reba of Tallapoosa, Ga. and Dale Lawler and wife Nella of Hodges; brother-in-law, Wayne Craft; grandchildren, Stacy Lawler, Dawn Lawler, Joshua Lawler, Kerry Lawler and Mitzi Kerby; great-granchildren, Katie Lawler, Karly Lawler, Cayden Lawler, Cai Lawler, Briley Kerby and Baleigh Kerby; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and nine brothers and sisters.

Dezzie V. Davis

Dezzie V. Davis, 88, of Red Bay, Ala. passed away Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, at the Care Center of Red Bay.
She was born Aug. 10, 1920 in Itawamba County, Miss., to Lee Andy and Cora Alice Woods Works. She was a homemaker, seamstress and a longtime resident of the Care Center of Red Bay. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Funeral services were Dec. 13 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay with Bro. Larry Hill officiating. Burial was in Red Bay City Cemetery.
She is survived by herdaughters, Shirley Oliver and husband, Mike, and Ouida Hammock and husband, Scotty, all of Red Bay; son, Jerry N. Davis of Red Bay; sister, Sulie Miller of Zion, Ill.; grandchildren, Gina Raper, Tony Horton, Tammy Duncan, Pamela Bolding, Richard Hammock, Nickolas Davis and Chase Davis; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James N. Davis; her parents; sisters, Robbie Weeks and Charlie Funderburk; and brothers, Arnold Works, Arnie Ray Works, Cecil Works and James Works.
Pallbearers were Tony Horton, Richard Hammock, Nickolas Davis, Chase Davis, Byron Duncan and Tim Bolding.
Deaton Funeral Home assisted the family.
Jeffery D. Roberts

Jeffery Dean "Lemonhead" Roberts, 48, of Russellville, Ala., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008, at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital in Florence.
He lived most of his life in Franklin County and was a member of the Baptist Church. He was employed by Steve Stooksberry.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Dec. 20 at 11 a.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville with James McCullar officiating. Burial will follow in Spruce Pine Cemetery. Visitiation will be Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Michelle Roberts of Russellville; daughter, Megan Roberts of Phil Campbell; stepdaughter, Lindsey Jett of Russellville; brothers, Jimmy Roberts of Spruce Pine and James Roberts of Phil Campbell; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lowell Roberts and Lela Parker.
Pinkard Funeral Home assisted the family.
Ada Ruth Tompkins

Ada Ruth Tompkins, 86, of Russellville, Ala., went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, at Russellville Health Care.
The visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 19, 2008, at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will follow at Spry Memorial Chapel with Bro. Jim Lumpkin will be officiating. Burial will follow at Franklin Memory Gardens.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Wesley and Anna Pounders; husband, Raymond Tompkins; and son, James "Shorty" Tompkins.
She is survived by her sons, Danny Tompkins and wife Darlene of Russellville, Tommy Tompkins and wife Sharon of Haleyville and Larry Tompkins and wife Kathy of Russellville; daughter, Dorothy Stutts of Russellville; sister, Louise Michaels; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The pallbearers will be Jake Tompkins, Josh Tompkins, Tommy McCarley, Johnny Malone, Aaron Crowe and Gerald Benstine.
