VL Kingsley, 80, of Golden, Miss., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, at The Courtyards in Fulton, Miss.
He was born Sept. 7, 1928, in Itawamba County, Miss., to Clovis and Rilla Strawbridge Kingsley. He was an autoworker for American Motors for 33 years and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Graveside services were Friday, Jan. 2 at Shady Valley Cemetery in Tremont, Miss. Burial was in Shady Valley Cemetery.
He is survived by his son, Dennis Kingsley of Golden, Miss.; daughters, Julie Mauldin of Kenosha, Wis., Carol Crane of Hamilton and Margie Kingsley of Round Lake, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evarie Cayson Kingsley; brother, RC Kingsley; sisters, Ruby Miles and Clasteen Davis; and his parents.
Pallbearers were Dale Baron, Corey Crane, Delmar Dade, Dennis Kingsley, Rusty Crane, Tommy Miles and Cody Crane.
Deaton Funeral Home in Red Bay assisted the family.

Eula Halcomb, 98, of Kenosha, Wis., and formerly of Russellville, Ala., passed away Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009. She was born Jan. 14, 1910, to Jay and Ellen Hale.
The visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 7 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Church of God at Ten Acre Field in Red Bay. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with Pastor Green and Bro. Hollis Boyd officiating. Interment will be in Halltown Community Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Halcomb.

Pearl Nix Herring, 91, of Russellville, Ala., passed away Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at Terrace Manor Nursing Home.
Funeral services were Monday, Jan. 5 at Spry Memorial Chapel in Russellville with Rev. David Sanderson officiating. Burial followed at Shady Grove Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Leman Herring and Tony Herring, and husband, Clyde Herring.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Wanda Bray Herring; grandsons, Chase Herring and Chris Herring; three granddaughters; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Hosea Edward Willis

Hosea Edward Willis, 78, of Russellville, Ala., passed away Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009, at his residence.
He was a native of Franklin County, Ala. He was member and deacon of Avalon Baptist Church in Muscle Shoals. He was an Army veteran and a retired foreman from Reynolds Metals Company.
A graveside service with military honors will be Thursday, Jan. 8 at 1 p.m. at Franklin Memory Gardens with John Johnston officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 7 from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville.
He is survived by his wife, Inge K. Willis of Russellville; children, Karen Willis of Fort Walton, Fla., Ralph Willis of Phil Campbell, John Willis of Russellville, Debbie McDougall and husband Malcolm of Beaufort, S.C., Cyndi and husband Jeff McKeown of Key Stone Heights, Fla., and Mike and wife Tresa Willis of Russellville; sister, June Hendrix of Tuscumbia; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, Ed and Ellie Willis, and brothers, Olan Willis and Carl Willis.
