RED BAY – A Red Bay teen faces felony charges after law enforcement found three grams of methamphetamine in his possession late Wednesday night.
Sgt. Scottie Belue said he, Sgt. Scotty Chandler and Officer Kyle Palmer found Brandon Eddy Humphres, 18, of 716 4th Ave. SW in Red Bay, under the influence of meth at a residence on Highway 11 in Red Bay.
"We received information that there was illegal drug activity going on at a residence on Highway 11 so we investigated those reports," Belue said.
Humphres was charged with possession of controlled substance after officers found three grams of meth in his vehicle.
"We found on gram on him, and two grams in a bag inside a flashlight," Belue said. "The amount is small enough to still be considered as personal use."
Belue said Humphres admitted to smoking meth within an hour before police arrived, and he was still under the influence at the time of the arrest.
According to the Alabama Criminal Code, possession of controlled substance is a Class C felony, which carries one to 10 years in prison upon conviction.
Belue said Humphres was transported to the Franklin County Detention Center on Thursday, where he remains pending a $3,500 bond.
