County benefits from clean-up effort

By Staff
Last Saturday the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce Junior Leadership students rolled up their sleeves and spent two hours picking up litter throughout the county as part of the Chamber's "Clean Up Franklin County – It Matters" littler drive.
The approximately 39 juniors from Russellville and Franklin County high schools worked in pairs and three-person teams to collect at least 50 bags of garbage in the cities of Red Bay and Russellville and along several county roads and highways.
We commend these students for spending their Saturday morning gathering trash that had been thrown out the windows by thoughtless passing motorists because litter can be an eyesore for a community and is likely to leave a negative impression on people who pass through our county each day.
The Junior Leadership program is building future leaders for our county and stopping litter is a great place for them to start.
Now, it's time for us all to do our part and follow their leadership.
