I want to find the best

By Staff
With the school year and spring sports season coming to an end, I have been looking back at the past year and noticed how many great athletes there are in Franklin County.
As a tribute to these athletes, I have decided – with the help of the readers – to start a series on the best athletes at each school.
There are only two catches.
First, I want readers, coaches and athletes to nominate who they feel are the best from each school.
While I have an idea about whom I think are the best athletes at each school, I want to know who Franklin County thinks is the best.
Second, the stories will be limited to senior athletes only.
I am looking for the best all-around athletes – one male, one female – from Belgreen, Phil Campbell, Red Bay, Russellville, Tharptown and Vina.
If you think the best athlete has played several sports, nominate that player. If you think there is a player that played in only one sport but was so dominant he or she is better than multi-sport athletes, then nominate that player.
I will be taking nominations from now until the end of the month. Once the votes have been tallied I will contact coaches and players for interviews.
The series will begin in late May with one feature story in each paper, in no particular order.
Make your voice heard and nominate your favorite player today. My contact information is listed below. If you call and I am not at the desk, please leave a message.
I look forward to speaking with you soon.
