Storms rip across county

A storm system moved across Franklin County late Sunday night causing power outages and damage to several areas.
Franklin County Emergency Management Agency Director Roy Gober said that most of the damage occurred in the Phil Campbell and East Franklin areas.
About 10 percent of households in those areas of the county were left without power, Gober said.
No tornadoes were reported, but it's believed that straight-line winds caused most of the damage.
"There was quite a bit of damage," Gober said.
The Phil Campbell Police Department reported damage to several businesses as well as damage to the post office, community center and the high school.
In an unusual bit of damage, the front door of the Phil Campbell Laundry blew off its hinges.
The worst of the storm reportedly moved through between 10 and 12 p.m.
Gober said that strong winds that are usually high in the sky dropped down to about tree level, causing the damage.
Officials said that there was no significant damage reported in Russellville or Red Bay.
