A Russellville man was arrested over the weekend and charged with raping his wife.
Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett said a 38 year-old city man was arrested about 10:30 p.m. Saturday and charged with first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy and third-degree domestic violence.
Investigators responded to call on Fillmore Street late Saturday after receiving a call from a woman saying that she had been raped by her husband.
Reports indicate that the couple got into a heated argument and the woman tried to leave the residence.
Investigators said the man went outside, brought her back in the house and "body slammed her to the ground."
Officials said the woman later awoke with her husband on top of her raping her.
The man was taken into custody and is being held without bond.
