Lions host Wonder Boys for homecoming

By Staff
The University of North Alabama football team returns home tonight for its homecoming matchup against Arkansas Tech.
The Lions, 5-0 overall and 3-0 in Gulf South Conference play, are ranked third in the latest poll and is one of only two teams in the GSC – along with Ouachita Baptist – to remain undefeated in conference play.
Arkansas Tech is 3-1 overall and 1-1 in the GSC.
UNA has a five-game winning streak in the series and leads the all-time series 9-3.
The Lions are averaging 41.6 points per game while giving up an average of 11.2.
The Wonder Boys are allowing an average of 22.75 points per game while scoring an average of 43.25 points.
This is the most explosive offense the Lions have faced all season. Arkansas Tech could put up big numbers again if the Lions continue to pile up penalties.
UNA is the most penalized team in the GSC with an average of more than 100 yards in penalties in every game.
While the team might be struggling with penalties, a few players are having consistent seasons in the stat column.
Defensive back Quinton Andrews has had several big plays for the Lions this year, including an interception in the season opener, a fumble recovery against Carson-Newman, scored a defensive extra point with a 100-yard interception return against Henderson State and he blocked a field goal against Harding to help the Lions preserve a shutout.
Marcus Simms is leading the Lions with six rushing touchdowns. He scored twice in the opener and once in each game since.
