LEXINGTON – Red Bay managed a rally in the second first half, but couldn't muster one in the second half as Lexington pulled away from the Tigers for a 42-20 victory.
The Tigers (5-4, 4-3) fell behind early as Lexington scored a pair of touchdowns in first seven minutes of the opening quarter.
Red Bay got on the board when Justin Payne returned a fumble recovery for a touchdown and Austin Belue added the extra point to cut the deficit to 14-7.
The Tigers tied the game with seven minutes to play in the second quarter when Joseph Reach scored on a 5-yard run.
Lexington added two touchdowns in the final two minutes of the half to take a 28-14 lead into halftime. The Bears padded the lead with a touchdown in the third quarter.
Reach added another touchdown run, this one from more than 60 yards out, but the extra point attempt failed to leave the Tigers trailing 35-20.
Lexington added another touchdown late in the fourth quarter. With the win, the Bears finish the season undefeated in region play.
Red Bay will travel to Colbert County next Friday to finish the regular season. The following week the Tigers will travel to Lamar County for the first round of the playoffs.
