PHIL CAMPBELL – Although the Phil Campbell football team missed the playoffs this season, the Bobcats are having one of the best years in nearly half a decade.
The Bobcats' 14-0 victory against Westminster Christian Academy Friday night gave Phil Campbell its first season with at least three wins since 2005 and it was the first shutout since a 39-0 victory against Danville in 2002.
Quarterback Jeff White connected with Dillan Hamby for a 24-yard touchdown pass with 4:17 remaining in the first quarter to give Phil Campbell the early lead. Craig Saint added the extra point.
The Bobcats extended their lead seven seconds into the second quarter when White hit Dylan Rice with a 1-yard touchdown pass.
Neither team was able to score the rest of the game.
With the win Phil Campbell improves to 3-6 overall and 2-5 in region play. The Bobcats finish the season sixth in Class 2A, Region 8.
Phil Campbell travels to Hackleburg next Friday.
