Belgreen girls roll in easy win

BELGREEN – The Belgreen varsity girls basketball team is off to a 2-0 start after defeating Covenant Christian 71-33 Thursday night.
Belgreen led 13-8 after the first quarter, but back-to-back-to-back 3-pointers gave the Lady Bulldogs a sizable advantage.
The Lady Bulldogs led 30-15 at halftime and used 26 third-quarter points to extend their lead against the Lady Eagles.
Erica Smith led Belgreen with 13 points while Amber Smith scored 10. Katy Britton added nine points and Kristi O'Dell scored eight.
Also scoring for the Lady Bulldogs were Katelin Barber (6), Brooke Davis (5), Alivia Holcomb (4), Sara McMahan (4), Loren McVicker (4), Brittany Simmons (4), Lydia DeVaney (2) and Bridget Thompson (2).

The Belgreen varsity boys rallied late, but by then the visiting Eagles had control of the game.
Brian Vance and Ben Britnell led the Bulldogs with eight points each while Colt Hester added six points.
Also scoring were Cody Glasgow (4), Austin Oldag (4), Jake Tittle (3), Will Hester (2) and Daniel Melecio (2).
With the loss, Belgreen falls to 1-1 on the season.
