Orville Parker

Orville E. Parker, 85, of Red Bay, died Saturday, May 22, 2010 at his residence. He was born August 18, 1924 in Alabama to Archie and Edna Powell Parker. He was the former mayor of Red Bay, a mason, and member of the Church of Lord Jesus. He was the superintendent of the Red Bay Water and Gas Department from 1963 to 1985. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a heavy equipment operator for 25 years and a superintendent at Sunshine Mills.

Funeral services were held Sunday, May 23, 2010 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay with Bro. Bill Burcham and Arthur Hardin officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Golden, Miss.

He is survived by his wife, Nadine Parker of Red Bay, sons, Ernest Parker, and wife, Sue, of Tuscaloosa, and Gary Parker and wife, Icy, of Red Bay; grandchildren, Ernest Parker III, Lee Parker and Evans Parker; brothers, Jack Parker of Detriot, Mich., and Bill Parker and wife, Fran, of Brownville, Tenn.; sisters, Eva Mason of Detroit, June Hamm of Arizona, and Evelyn Deaton of Decatur.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers included Bobby Tutor, Arthur Hardin, Bill Elrod, Alben Mason, Omer Trasher, and L.D. Overton.
