Man arrested on cocaine charges

 

A Lauderdale County man was taken into custody Saturday after authorities found 15 rocks of cocaine in a prescription bottle.

Franklin County Sheriff’s office investigators said Clarence “Killer” Jones, 35, 515 Locust Street, Florence is charged with public ludness, illegal possession of alcohol and unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Authorities said recreational officers with the Bear Creek Development Authority found Jones using the restroom on the side of the road beside his parked vehicle along Franklin 13 just south of Phil Campbell.

Investigators said since the incident was occurring inside county lines, BCDA immediately notified The Franklin County sheriff’s office to aid in the arrest.

Upon arrival, Investigators said they found alcoholic beverages setting in the front seat of Jones’ vehicle.

Officers on the scene claimed Jones appeared to be nervous and once deputies attempted to search him, he threw down a prescription bottle containing, what was later found to be 15 rocks of cocaine.

Authorities said this isn’t the first time they have caught Jones smuggling drugs.

Investigators said Jones is also being held for prior community correction violations and is currently in the Franklin County jail.
