Bass are biting

The most exciting style of fishing is at its peak; top water baits are at their best right now.

Nothing is more exciting than watching a Bass come up and attack bait being worked across the water.

I have had the best success with shad style baits being worked in standing timber. Floating large dark worms worked slowly in grass has also produced a good bite for large mouth bass.

Buzz baits being worked in the current below area dams in bringing in good size Striped Bass.

For some exciting fishing I recommend you try some top water action to get your blood flowing. Bream fishing is still really good on top of their spawning beds. Additionally, catfishing has been getting better with the best bait being cut bait, chicken livers or night crawlers.

Last week along the Gulf of Mexico near Fort Morgan people were still fishing. We had success catching Pompano on frozen Shrimp.

If you have a trip planned to the Gulf take the time to call your fishing guide and make sure everything is still what you expect.

Everyone we spoke to about the oil spill was very helpful and accommodating.
