Lyman H. Greene, 88, of Muscle Shoals died peacefully in his sleep and went to be with the Lord the morning of Friday, Aug. 20, 2010 at Cypress Cove in Muscle Shoals.  He was born Dec. 5, 1921 in Belmont, Miss.  He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and following the war moved his family to Chicago, Ill. area.  He retired from Johns Manville in Waukegan, Ill. and moved back home to Alabama in 1986.

Funeral services will be at 12 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will be in Belmont City Cemetery in Belmont, Miss.  Visitation will be from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. prior to services.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Elizabeth Abernathy Greene; two daughters, Nell Anthony and husband, Pete, and Sue Dempsey and husband, Bob; and beloved children of Elizabeth, Mike Abernathy and wife, Patty, and Regina Parker and husband, Steve; ten grandchildren, Jeff Anthony and wife, Cheryl, Scott Anthony and fiancée, Barbara, Steve Anthony and wife, Becky, Mike Anthony and wife, Jessica, Jim Troxel, Kristen Abernathy, Michael Abernathy, Karen Abernathy, Ben Parker and Amy Parker; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Mildred Farrar; brother, Hubert Greene; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy Dempsey Greene.
