THS seeks second win

THARPTOWN — Tharptown was a failed 2-point conversion away from picking up its second win of the season last week when the Wildcats fell to Vina 20-19.

Tharptown should be able to earn that win this week when they travel to Waterloo. The Cougars are last in the Class 1A, Region 8 standings and have not won a game all season.

Tharptown’s defense is allowing 37.6 points per game, but that number should improve this week.

The Waterloo offense is virtually nonexistent, averaging only 4.4 points per game. The Cougars have been shut out in five of their eight games this season.

Waterloo also struggles on defense, allowing 47.4 points per game. The fewest points the Cougars have given up in a game is 27, while they have allowed at least 50 points in four games.

Tharptown’s offense is averaging 19.5 points per game.

Waterloo leads the overall series 4-1 with Tharptown’s lone win coming last season.
