Wildcats, Red Devils play for bragging rights

Vina is coming off its first win of the season and is looking to put together a winning streak, but the Red Devils will have to get past cross-county rival Tharptown for that to happen.

Both teams have been eliminated from playoff contention, so when they take the field Friday night they will be playing for pride.

Vina defeated Waterloo last week and would love to beat the Wildcats before finishing the regular season against R.A. Hubbard and Hubbertville.

Tharptown is looking for their first win of the season — a win they are hoping will spur them on to a strong finish to the season. A victory against the Red Devils could give the Wildcats the confidence to end the season with a three-game winning streak. Tharptown will host Waterloo next week and finish the regular season at the Alabama School for the Deaf.

This game could turn into a shootout as both defense are allowing an average of at least 40 points per game.

The offenses are also putting up similar numbers. The Red Devils are scoring an average of 23.9 points per game while the Wildcats are averaging 19.4 points per game.
