PHIL CAMPBELL — The Hackleburg Lady Panthers found themselves playing rival Phil Campbell Tuesday night.

While these games tend to be highly contested, The Lady Bobcats would go on to win this one in blowout fashion, 7-0.

“It feels good to win,” Phil Campbell head coach Darit Riddle said. “We knew they were going to hit the ball. “

Despite the Lady Panthers’ fully capable offense, Phil Campbell pitcher Lindsey Jackson allowed no runs and only four hits in seven innings, with 11 strikeouts and one walk.

“Lindsey played well for us today,” Riddle said.

The game remained scoreless for the first two innings.

The Lady Bobcats got on the board and broke the tie in the bottom of the third inning when Madison Hardy hit an RBI double.

Taylor Allen followed that with an RBI single, putting Phil Campbell up 2-0.

The Lady Bobcats added an insurance run to their total in the bottom of the fourth when Lauren Swinney brought Sarah Hester home on an RBI single.

The dominating pitching of Jackson did not allow Hackleburg a chance to get back in the game, and Phil Campbell saw its lead grow even more in the later innings.

The Lady Bobcats added three more runs to their final tally, to be exact.

Karli Hill hit a sacrifice grounball for an RBI, followed by an RBI single by Vickie McAlister. Swinney rounded out the scoring for Phil Campbell on a two-RBI double.

The game marked senior night for Phil Campbell, which honored seniors Whitley Yocom, Korina Jimenez, Hester, Jackson and Jessie Halcomb, who could not play this season due to medical reasons.

When it comes to these girls, Coach Riddle knows he is losing a lot of talent.

“You take my pitcher, second baseman, center fielder and right fielder,” Riddle said. “Losing Lindsey hurts. Whitley has been getting on base for us. Korina has been stepping up and making plays at second base.”

Phil Campbell now moves on to play area opponent Lamar County on either Tuesday or Thursday, with the exact time and date to be decided in a meeting.

“They put the whoop on us last time, but I’d love to see them again,” Riddle said.
