I would like to announce that I have qualified to seek re-election as Town Councilman Place 1 in the August 28 Phil Campbell municipal election.
It has been a great honor to have served the citizens of Phil Campbell for the past four years and I would like to continue in my position as Town Councilman as I feel the previous four years have served well in training me for what is yet to be carried out in the great town of Phil Campbell.
I am a native of Franklin County and graduated from Russellville High School in 1976. I attended Northwest Alabama State Jr. College a as well as Muscle Shoals Technical College, Shelton State Community College and Gadsden State Community College.
I am the son of Roy S. and Jewel Nagle of Russellville and my son is Patrick A. Nagle of Phil Campbell and I have one sister, Valerie Nagle Tittle of Florence.
As for my qualifications and background, I have been employed for 33 years by Norfolk Southern Railway, 24 years of which have been in Franklin County and I feel my occupation gives me an understanding of the importance of a transportation infrastructure as it applies to industrial development.
I am a paramedic with the Phil Campbell Rescue Squad and certified volunteer firefighter with the Phil Campbell Fire Department and am a past vice president of the Franklin County Fire and Rescue Association. I feel these positions give me knowledge and understanding of the emergency service needs of our community as well as the equipping and training of these services.
I am also an active member of the Brotherhood of Railway Signalmen local 49 and have been for 33 years and through my union membership I have learned the importance of a good working relationship between labor and management.
The biggest qualification I have to offer is having served the past four years as your councilman. This has been a great learning experience for me and has laid a foundation to understand what is ahead for the next four years. I have self-evaluated myself as to goals I am going to seek as councilman. The main goal is being a hard working dedicated councilman for all the people. I want to make myself very readily available to the community.

I am very anxious to develop our town economically, while there is much emphasis on industry that would bring in jobs, let’s not overlook small business which brings in jobs one job at a time. I want an environment that welcomes and embraces any small business.
I am ready to push forward for the next four years as we continue to recover and rebuild from the devastating tornado of April 27, 2011, that will never be forgotten.
There is much work that has been done and so much more to be done in our rebuilding and I want to be an active part of the team that continues in the recovery of Phil Campbell.
