A photo published in the April 30, 2011, edition of the Franklin County Times was announced last week as the Photograph of the Year in the Alabama Press Association’s Better Newspapers Contest during the Southeast Press Convention in Destin, Fla.
The photo captured a father-daughter as they walked away from their home in the aftermath of last year’s deadly tornado.
The photo was named Photograph of the Year in all divisions, competing against metro papers such as the Birmingham News, Tuscaloosa News and Huntsville Times.
The Times had already been announced as winners of three other editorial awards.
