Man jailed after altercation

RED BAY – A Mississippi man was arrested after allegedly breaking his father-in-law’s wrist and knocking him unconscious during an altercation late Tuesday evening, officials said.
Brody Rogers, 20, 145 County Road 35, Dennis, Miss., was arrested and charged with second-degree assault, Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver said.
According to Oliver, Rogers reportedly followed his estranged wife to her father’s house off of Alabama 247, but when he arrived at the residence, his father-in-law told him he needed to leave.
Oliver said when Rogers was told to leave the property he reportedly began yelling obscenities at his father-in-law and his estranged wife.
“Witnesses stated at this point, the argument escalated and Rogers was seen pulling out a firearm and hitting his father-in-law over the head with it,” Oliver said. “After this, witnesses have said he tackled his father in-law to the ground and began to hit him with his fists.”
Oliver said the victim was knocked unconscious for three to five minutes and was transported to Red Bay Hospital where doctors determined he had a broken wrist and had to receive several staples to close the gash he sustained on his head.
Oliver said Rogers fled the scene but was later picked up by the Red Bay Police Department and detained until he could be transported to the Franklin County Jail.
Rogers is currently out of jail on a $5,000 bond.
