Richard U. Handley, 79, died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012, at Generations of Red Bay.

He was born March 25, 1933, in Colbert County and was an escort driver. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Services were Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, with Bro. Brian Weems officiating. Burial was in Red Bay City Cemetery.

Survivors are four children, Susan Pugh, William Alvin Handley and Charles Allen Handley, all of Red Bay, and Janice Lynch and husband, David, of Dennis, Miss.; one sister, Edna Smith, Tuscumbia; six grandchildren, Adam Lynch, Melissa Gonzales and husband, Alex, Bobby Handley, Sean Martin, Regina Vessey and husband, Sean, and Tamera Keller and husband, Nathan, and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Handley; a son, Jerry Handley; his parents, William Albert Handley and Susan Thorn Handley; and three brothers.

Pallbearers were Alton Hester, Farron Credille, Chad Malone, James Childers, Adam Lynch and Michael Morrison.
