Jean Luna May, 82, Russellville, passed away Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, at Burns Nursing Home.

Jean was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Russellville. She retired from the State of Alabama with 36 years of service where she worked for the Unemployment Service as a Claims Supervisor. Very active in retirement, she was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Cultura Garden Club.  A lifelong Alabama fan, she enjoyed working in her yard, bird watching, and delivering for Meals on Wheels. Her last months were happily spent at the Country Cottage where she enjoyed helping both the staff and other residents.

Funeral services were Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, at Spry Memorial Chapel with Rev. Mark Woodruff officiating. Burial was in Franklin Memory Gardens.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Robert William May; parents,  James Kane Luna, Sr. and Stella Patton Luna; and brother, James Kane Luna, Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, Judy May Burcham and husband, Chris Hale; grandchildren, Patrice Burcham Smith and husband, Ben, Muscle Shoals, Jordan Hale Burcham, Birmingham; great-grandchildren, Leigha Patrice Smith, Allie Katherine Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept 142, Memphis, TN  38101-9908.
