Chester Hardin

Chester Hardin, 92, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at his residence.

He was born Aug. 23, 1920, in Franklin County. He served as an ordained deacon at Pilot Hill Missionary Baptist Church. He was a retired farmer who liked to rabbit hunt, grow vegetables and raise goats. He always worked hard and cared deeply for his family, church and fellow man.

Services were held Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, with Bro. A.H. Akins and Bro. J.C. Blackburn officiating. Burial was in Burnout Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Virlie Hardin, Red Bay; her daughter, Patricia Harris, Red Bay; two children, a daughter, Betty Moore and husband, Larry, Russellville,  and a son, Charles Hardin and wife, Janice, Northport; four grandchildren, Amy Cochran and husband, Mark, April Lamon and husband, Kenneth, Emily Evans and husband, Jason, and Steven Moore and fiancé,  Sarah Harle; three great-grandchildren, Brett Evans, Ashton Cochran and Connor Evans;  a brother, Bob Hardin, Red Bay, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his his first wife of 46 years, Oniece Shewbart Hardin; an infant son, Troy Lee Hardin; his parents, Nash and Rena Gillette Hardin; one brother, Jim Hardin and three sisters, Dovie Emerson, Tiny Gober and Marley Mae Thorn and a nephew, Steve Emerson.
