PHIL CAMPBELL —  It was just one of those nights for the Phil Campbell Bobcats.  I was one of those nights where seemingly nothing can go right no matter how hard you try.  The Bobcats fell to 2-5 as the Lexington Golden Bears took advantage of several Phil Campbell mistakes in route to a 57-8 win.

After falling behind 14-0 in the first quarter thing seemed to snowball on the Bobcats.  Lexington blocked a Phil Campbell punt that led to a score.  The Bobcats fumbled a kickoff that led to a score.  All in the second quarter.  Lexington led 27-0 at halftime.

It didn’t get any better in the second half.  Phil Campbell fumbled the opening kickoff which led to another Lexington touchdown.  Four minutes later Lexington returns a punt 55 yards for a touchdown.  Later in the third the Golden Bears recover a fumble in the end zone giving the Golden Bears a 48-0 third quarter lead.

In the fourth quarter Lexington would score two more times: on a safety and touchdown.

The Bobcats were finally able to land in the end zone with just two ticks remaining on the clock.  Jacob Hamilton pushed forward for a one-yard touchdown run.  The Bobcats completed the two-point conversion on a pass from Hamilton to David Sparks.

Phil Campbell travel to Colbert Heights next week.
