L.D. Overton, 64, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at Helen Keller Hospital.

He was born in Lawrence County. He was a factory worker and had worked as a welder for Heil for 26 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam.

Funeral services were Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Gene Cooley officiating. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Golden, Miss.

Survivors are his wife of 42 years, Kathern Overton, Red Bay; two sons, Michael Overton and wife, Lisa, and Matthew Overton and wife, Connie, all of Red Bay; three brothers, John Lewis Lipsey, Moulton, and John Wayne Overton and wife, Belinda, and Kenneth Overton, all of Hodges; three sisters, Edna Proctor and Annette Posey, both of Moulton, and Elzora Wolf and husband, Warren, of Michigan; two granddaughters, Haley and Hanna Overton and two step-grandchildren, Seth and Zac Holmes.
