James Robert “J.R.” Spencer, 73, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at ECM Hospital.
He was born Aug. 14, 1939, in Alabama. He was a pilot and a veteran of the US Army.
Services were Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, with Bro. Bobby Massey officiating. Burial was in Ebenezer Cemetery.
Survivors are his son, Mike Spencer and wife, Melissa Dawn, of Hernando, Miss.; one sister, Barbara Kennedy, of Belmont; two brothers, Charles Spencer, of Vina, and David Spencer, of South Carolina; nieces and nephews, Sarah Nichols, Edward Spencer, James Spencer, Anthony Spencer and Candi Wright.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Robert Jerome and Bessie King Spencer and one brother, Danny Spencer.
Pallbearers will be his nephews.
