Man accused of possessing meth making materials
PHIL CAMPBELL – A Phil Campbell man was arrested on Wednesday after sheriff’s investigators found items used in the manufacture of methamphetamine in his home, officials said.
Allen Wayne McCarley, 53, Edgar Chapel Rd., Phil Campbell, was arrested on two counts of attempt to manufacture a controlled substance.
According to Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver, the sheriff’s office received information that McCarley had been manufacturing meth at his residence in Phil Campbell.
Oliver said when investigators with the Franklin County Drug Unit went to the residence on Wednesday, they didn’t find an active lab, but they found several chemicals and other items used to manufacture meth as well as drug paraphernalia.
Oliver said investigators also checked the pseudoephedrine purchase logs and saw that McCarley had purchased pseudo pills 40 times since February of 2011.
McCarley is still in custody at the Franklin County Jail.
