William Paul Thorn, 84, a faithful servant to his Lord, went to his heavenly home on January 12, 2013, at his residence.

He was a devoted minister, father and friend. He was a Baptist minister and pastor for 48 years. He was a member of Burnout Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held at Burnout Baptist Church on Monday, Jan. 14, 2013 with Bro. Dan Hindman, Bro. Jim Gables and Bro. Bobby Amos officiating. Burial was in Burnout Cemetery.

Survivors include his four sons, Ronald and wife, Karen, of Red Bay, David and wife, Ann, of Birmingham, Donald and wife, Dawn, of Red Bay, Mike and wife, Jill, of Sumrall, Miss.; one daughter, Shewana Ashe and husband, Jeff, of Pontotoc, Miss.; eight grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Louise Kitchens and Opal Thorne, both of Muscle Shoals.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Marjorie H. Thorn; his parents, William A. and Dezz Thorn; two brothers, Elmer Thorn and Ernest Thorn, and one sister, Madge Donaldson.

Pallbearers were Jonathon Thorn, Taylor Ashe, Austin Morrow, Jason Heym, Dale Hester, Donald Gober, Andrew Ashe and Tyler Morrow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Burnout Baptist Church Building Fund, 25 Hwy 2, Vina, AL 35593.

The family would like to thank Dr. Lynn Ridgeway for his years of kindness and compassion while he treated their father for his illness. The family would also like to thank the caregivers who lovingly cared for him, Marie Cole, Deloris Davis, and Melissa Wilkinson, along with the nurses from Keller Home Hospice.
