Faye Smith McCarver, 91, died Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, at Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home, Killen.

She graduated high school at Phil Campbell where she was born and raised. Faye went on to earn her teacher’s degree from Florence State Teachers College, where she met and later married the father of her children, Charles O. Smith, Jr.

She loved children and taught school for several years in the Franklin County School system and was a teacher’s aide in the Russellville School System. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Russellville; past commander of the Ladies Auxiliary of the DAV; member of Ladies Auxiliary Jaycees’ and Lions Club.

Faye was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Allie Mae McClung; first husband, Charles O. Smith, Jr.; second husband, Cecil McCarver; brother, Paul McClung; sister, Nina Jean Batchelor; granddaughter, April Hargett; and grandson, Jason Hargett.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Hargett and husband, Stanley; son, Sammy Smith and wife, Suzanne; step-son, Stan McCarver; sister, Ruth Alford; grandchildren, Angie Hargett James and special friend, Jackie Solley, Craig Smith, Leigh Ann Smith James and husband, Brad, Brent McCarver; great-grandchildren, Levi James, Leah James, Amber Cameron Hallman and husband, Spanky, Cody Cameron; great-great-grandchildren, Rylin Lewey, Ryker Hallman; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The pallbearers were Craig Smith, Levi James, Cody Cameron, Brad James, Jackie Solley, and Spanky Hallman.

Funeral services were Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013, at Spry Memorial Chapel. Officiating at the service was Bro. Stanley Hargett. Burial was in Franklin Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

The family would like to extend special heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home, and especially all the caregivers for their love and care of our mother. Also many thanks to Dr. Auxier for your excellent care.
