The Russellville Police Department has arrested a local man wanted in connection with a stabbing that took place Tuesday afternoon.

Jason Wade Williams, 24, was arrested shortly after 6 p.m. Tuesday on the charge of first-degree assault.

Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett said the RPD received a call at 3:25 p.m. from Russellville Hospital stating an individual had come to the ER with a severe laceration to his left upper chest region.

During the course of the investigation, it was determined that Williams was allegedly responsible for the victim’s injuries. As of 5 p.m., officials said the victim is currently undergoing surgery at Russellville Hospital.
