Nola P. Allen passed away Aug. 29, 2013.

Born in Addison on July 16, 1929, she was a long time resident of Russellville, where she taught Home Economics for many years at Russellville High School. Mrs. Allen was valedictorian of Haleyville High School and a graduate of the University of Alabama. She participated in many civic and ladies clubs over the years, most recently a member of the Book Lovers Club.

She was a member of First Baptist Church where she enjoyed teaching a Pilates class to the ladies of the church. She was an avid gardener who loved to design flower arrangements, a talented bridge player, and enjoyed teaching many others to play.  She was loved dearly by her friends and family and will be remembered for her infectious laugh.

She is survived by her son, Leonard O’Neal Allen III, of Atlanta, Ga., and daughter, Mary Lynn Allen Botts and husband, Dr. Michael Botts, of Madison; grandchildren, Drew Botts and Rachel Botts Schoenholz (Carl); sister, Olga Mitchell of Haleyville; and four nieces. She was preceded in death by her father, Obie Clyde Pritchard and mother, Alma Florence Fincher Pritchard. She was preceded in death by the father of her children, Leonard Allen Jr.

Pallbearers were Mark Butler, Blake Williams, Thomas “Tinker” Malone, Barry Oliver, Mitchell Petty, and Lee Butler. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Friday Afternoon Bridge Club.

Funeral services were Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013, at First Baptist Church, Russellville, with Dr. Gene Balding and Rev. John Ryberg officiating. Burial was in Franklin Memory Gardens.  Donations can be made to the First Baptist Church of Russellville, P.O. Box 326, Russellville, Alabama 35653
