Church to present Christmas program

The chancel choir at the First United Methodist Church In downtown Russellville has been busy preparing for their annual Christmas program that they hope will be a special event this holiday season.

“Come Messiah King” will be presented at the church, located on Jackson Avenue, on Sunday, Dec. 15, at 10:30 a.m. and will feature the chancel choir as well as a full orchestra.

Choir director Tyler Wood said this is the first year for the choir to feature a full orchestra for their Christmas program.

“In years past, we have had a small orchestra, but we decided this year to expand it and include more instrumentalists,” Wood said.

“We think this really adds a special element to the program.”

Wood said “Come Messiah King” features a wide variety of music.

“There is everything from classical to praise and worship music and music from different eras,” he said.

“There will be something in here that everyone can enjoy. This is a great event for the whole family to come and hear about the true meaning of Christmas through song. Everyone in the community is invited to attend.”
