Raymond “Ray” King of Loudon, Tenn., formerly of Russellville, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2014 after a brief illness.

Mr. King was of the Baptist faith. He retired from Maremont Corporation as a supervisor after more than 20 years of service.

Ray loved to feed family and friends and tell (usually bad) old jokes. He enjoyed fishing with his son, Mike, and grandson, Will, and watching Alabama football, especially when they beat Tennessee. He will be missed by his family and many friends.

Mr. King was preceded in death by parents, Henry and Eardell (Hallmark) King; daughter, Deborah L. Moore; and brother, William O. King.

Survivors include his loving wife of nearly 57 years, Jean Fritz King; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Penny King, of Philadelphia, Tenn.; daughter and son in-law, Barbara and Mike McDaniel, of North Port, Fla.; grandchildren, Joshua, Laurene, Jessica, Will and Destin; great grandchildren, Chandi, Layla and Alex; sister and brother in-law, Gaynell and Aldon Hicks, of Russellville; and several nieces and nephews.

Ray’s family appreciates all of the prayers and support they have received from neighbors and friends during his illness.

A memorial service was held on Sunday, Feb. 9, at McGill-Karnes Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Ridge officiating. The family received friends prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the East Tennessee Multiple Sclerosis Society, Mid South Chapter, 214 Overlook Circle Suite 153, Brentwood, TN 37027 in honor of Mr. King’s granddaughter, Laurene, or to the charity of your choice.
