The Phil Campbell Bobcats closed out their spring football practice on a high note.

With their spring jamboree game tied at 20-20 late in the contest, sophomore Colby Baker picked off a pass and sprinted 85-yards for the game-winning touchdown against the Lynn Bears.

“I know it’s a spring game, but it’s an exciting way to win a game and it was good for our guys to get a win,” said second-year Bobcat head coach Ryan Swinney.

“I was very pleased in how our players competed out there tonight.”

Along with the pick-six, Baker ran the ball six times for 85 yards and a rushing touchdown as well.

“Colby had a big night for us,” Swinney said. “He had a really good game.”

Swinney also singled out Joe Hardy and Casey Galloway for having a good game. He added that Corey Cheek and Matthew Stancil stood out on defense with five tackles each.

“We had a lot of bright spots,” Swinney said.

“Those guys had really good games and we are expecting big things out of them this fall.”

Bobcat quarterback Tristan Godsey ran the ball ten times for 52 yards and a touchdown.

“We made some big plays and we missed some assignments,” Swinney said. “It was typical spring. You don’t expect to be perfect – you just want to show improvement and compete. I think we did that.”
