James Allen Thornton, Jr., age 63, Phil Campbell, passed away Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014.

He was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church.

Visitation was Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014, at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Phil Campbell. The funeral service followed. George Whitten, Jr. and Keith Hawk officiated. Burial was in Antioch Cemetery.

He is survived by wife, Diane Thornton; children, Dennis Thornton and wife, Kristie, Brady Thornton and wife, Tosha, Thomas Thornton and wife, Megan, and Cynthia Thornton Nash; mother, Louell Cole; brother, Mike Thornton; grandchildren, Abigail Thornton, Taylor Thornton, Makaela Nicole Rushing, Spencer Thornton, Grace Thornton, Chad Smith, Ian Stuzich and Hazley Kennedy.

He was preceded in death by his dad, James Thornton; step-dad, Tillman Cole; grandparents, Thomas D. and Carrie Hightower.
