James Nelson Skidmore

James Nelson Skidmore was born Nov. 25, 1925. He died Sept. 30, 2014, at the age of 88 years.

James was a member of the Quinn Church of Christ where he served as an Elder for more than 35 years. He was a veteran of World War II. He served as an assistant Boy Scout Master for many years. His life was devoted in service to others.

His wife, Madrue Ellen Taylor Skidmore; son, Jerry Dewayne Skidmore; parents, Owen Crumby Skidmore and Artie Viola McRight Skidmore; brother, Levi Skidmore and wife, Louise, preceded James in death.

James is survived by one brother, Bobby Skidmore and wife, Ann; one daughter, Regina Woods and husband, Randy; one son, Rickey Skidmore and wife, Pam; five grandsons, Clint Skidmore, Dustin Skidmore and wife, Heather, Tyler Skidmore and wife, Emily, Nick Woods and wife, Katie, and Clay Woods; three great-granddaughters, Anna Grace, Alyssa, and Lakeland; two great-grandsons, Tristian and Emory; sisters-in-law, Evelton Thorne, Zulene Wood, Majorie Taylor; brother-in-law, Thomas Franks; numerous nieces, nephews, and a multitude of Christian friends.

The funeral service was Thursday, October 2, 2014, at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel, Russellville, with burial in Franklin Memory Gardens. Officiating was Brother Don Ezzell and grandson, Nick Woods. Singing was led by brother-in-Christ, DeWyatt Gilbert. The family received friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 1, 2014.

Pallbearers were Randy Woods, Clay Woods, Tyler Skidmore, Clint Skidmore, Dusty Skidmore and Carl Pierce.

Honorary bearers were the brothers-in-Christ from Quinn Church of Christ.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses and staff at Mitchell Hollingsworth; Regina Lawler, nurses and staff at Country Cottage Assisted Living; and Brentwood Assisted nurses and staff for the care of our precious father during the past few years.
