The Alabama Board of Optometry met in Tuscaloosa October 24-25. Local optometrist Dr. Martha Morrow was elected President of the Alabama State Board of Optometry.

Other honors Morrow has received throughout her career include: Southern College of Optometry Chairperson of the Board of Trustees; Lifetime Achievement Award; Doctor of Optometry & Doctor of Ocular Science; President of the NW Alabama Optometric Society; President of the Alabama Optometric Association; Optometrist of the South for the 12 Southern States (the only female to ever receive this distinction); Optometrist of the Year for Alabama; President of the American Optometric Association Foundation – Optometry Cares; and Ambassador for the Southeast Council of Optometry.
