Republican incumbent Ken Johnson defeated Democratic candidate Jody Letson in the State Representative District 7 race Tuesday night.

Johnson said he is glad to be able to serve the people of his district for another term.

“I’m glad to have the opportunity to serve the people of my district again,” Johnson said. “I love getting out and meeting the people and it’s a real pleasure being out there, but I’m glad for election night to be over.

“It’s good for it to be over and now I can go back to working for the people of Alabama.”

Johnson said he’s ready to focus on improving economic situations in the area.

“It is important to take advantage of the economic advantages and the workforce we have in this district,” Johnson said. “I plan on continuing to recruit and create economic improvement.

“After talking and hearing from the people of my district and Alabama, I believe responsible government is what people want and need to preserve their values and provide jobs they need,” Johnson said. “People want government to live within its means and be accountable to them.  They are tired of the Washington mentality of spend, tax and spend more.”
