THS girls and boys snag wins

Varsity Girls, 46 – Shoals Christian, 16

The Tharptown Lady Wildcats scored an easy win to start the 2014-15 season. The Lady Wildcats defeated Shoals Christian 46-16.

Tharptown jumped out to a 13-5 first quarter lead. The Flame kept the game within reach in the second quarter basically playing Tharptown even. The Wildcats led 20-11 at the half.

Tharptown began to pull away in the second half as they stepped up the pressure on defense. The Wildcats outscored Shoals Christian 25-5 in second half.

Kaitlyn Vandiver led the way for the Wildcats with 14 points. She went 8-10 from the free throw line. Haley Malone added 11 points.

Others scoring for the Wildcats were Savannah Hamilton (6), Brooke Daniel (4), Kathy Alfaro (4), Jessica Wilson (2), Klaudia Harris (2), and Ashlyn Vandiver (2).

 

Varsity Boys, 67 – Shoals Christian, 43

The Tharptown Wildcats had no problem putting away the Shoals Christian Flame to tip off their 2014-15 season. The Wildcats defeated the Flame 67-43.

Tharptown led 16-9 at the end of the first quarter. The Wildcats outscored the Flame 25-10 in the second quarter to take a 41-19 lead into the locker room. The Wildcats extended their lead 63-30 by the end of the third quarter and coasted to the win.

Heath Hatton led the Wildcats in scoring with 16 points. Blake Gray added 14 from inside the paint.

Others scoring for the Wildcats were Max Nolen (8), Drake Lawson (7), Bailey Motes (7), Brady Petree (5), Matthew Brasuell (5), Mikey Rosson (5), and Allen Gaston (2).
