Phil Campbell Polar Plunge set for New Year’s Day
Phil Campbell is hosting their annual Polar Plunge in the waters of Bear Creek Lake on Jan. 1 to help raise money for two students.
The brave jaunt into the icy waters is set for noon on Jan. 1 at the Mon Dye Boat Landing on the Upper Bear Creek.
The fifth annual Polar Plunge is hosted by the town of Phil Campbell and sponsored by the Citizens for Phil Campbell. The organization was created by the community to after the tornadoes of 2011.
This year’s event will raise money for two local students who are battling cancer. The families of Millie Baker and Karley Welborn will receive money raised from the Jan. 1 event.
A blood drive earlier in Dec. also raised awareness for the two Phil Campbell girls.
