Something to look for next year
As 2014 winds down and everyone gets ready to gear up for the New Year, I’m doing the same thing here at The Franklin County Times.
In the coming year I am planning on introducing a new feature in the newspaper to help serve the community and if I’m lucky enough it just might entertain the readers as well.
A new series is going to be introduced that will continue from somewhere between four to six weeks with each week a new angle on the continuing topic.
The idea is to tackle topics that the citizens of Franklin County find interesting and important in their lives. From there I plan to gather information and opinions from different sectors of the community on each topic. Each week will have a different voice from a different viewpoint on that particular topic.
I want to let the readers hear from different leaders across the county and from different people who have an impact in this area.
Some of the topics I hope to cover in this weekly column include jobs, unemployment, and the possibility of job-growth in the area. There will be discussion of the community and its citizens and how it has changed and how it is continuing to change. There will be discussion of music and the arts in the area and how they play in the betterment of the community. There will be discussion of restaurants and their histories and perhaps even a community poll on what is the best restaurant in the county. And along the way I hope to hear suggestions from the community as to what is important and what they want to know more about.
The goal of the column is to give more in-depth coverage to some of the more important topics in the community. Sometimes for a weekly newspaper that is hard to do.
