Tigers drop Tremont Eagles

After taking a two-point lead at halftime, the Red Bay varsity boys turned in an outstanding 21 point third quarter to defeated the Eagles of Tremont 67-61 on Dec. 22.

Red Bay trailed 16-15 at the end of the first, but picked up the pace to outscore the Eagles 14-11 in the second.

With just over three minutes remaining in the game, Red Bay’s leading scorer Isaiah Jackson connected on a two point basket to give the Tigers a 13 point, 46-33 lead.

After Tremont sunk a three-pointer, Red Bay’s Buddy Kuykendall added a two pointer for the Tigers to hold on to an eight-point advantage.

With just over one minute remaining in the third, the Eagles completed a four point play on a three from the side and a free throw to cut Red Bay’s lead to six points, 48-42.

Red Bay’s Gresham sunk two free throws to end the third with a Red Bay 50-42 lead.

Tremont cut it to only two points with only 1:30 remaining, but Jackson for Red Bay added three consecutive foul shots to extend the Red Bay’s lead to 63-58.

Nick Thorn sunk an additional two pointer and two from the free throw line in the final seconds for the six point win.

Isaiah Jackson led Red Bay with 21 points, Dylan Gresham scored 10, Buddy Kuykendall added nine, Nick Thorn and Jesus Kelly scored eight each.

Dakota Miller had six, Chandler Allen scored three, and Tate Ozbirn scored two.
