Red Bay Lady Tigers top Hillcrest in tourney play

Red Bay’s Lady Tigers led in all quarters to pick up a 45-33 win over Hillcrest of Tuscaloosa during the Keith Davis Memorial Tournament at Rogersville.

Hillcrest tied the game at 6-6 midway through the first, but Red Bay’s Allie Kennedy, Darby Madden, and Katie Burks hit four consecutive baskets to give Red Bay a 14-8 lead.

Kennedy connected on the last shot at the buzzer to extend the Tigers’ lead to 16-9 at the start of the second quarter.

Red Bay held on to a 26-21 lead at halftime and a 37-29 advantage at the end of the third quarter.

Red Bay’s defense held Hillcrest to only four points in the fourth.

Kennedy led Red Bay with 25 points, Madden had 12, Burks scored five, Pierce had two and Cook scored one.

After losing to Deshler 59-54 on Saturday, the Lady Tigers moved to the consolation game last Monday to play Guntersville.

Red Bay outscored Guntersville 13-11 in the first but trailed in scoring 14-9 in the second, 12-10 in the third, and 12-10 in the fourth quarter.

Red Bay’s Katie Burks led off in the first with a two-point basket and a free throw.

Hope Cook added a three-pointer and a two-point basket, Darby Madden sunk a shot off the glass and Allie Kennedy hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to close out Red Bay’s only lead of the game.

Kennedy led with 23 points, Madden had six, Katie Burks scored three, Pierce added four, Cook scored five, and Hardin had one for Red Bay.

Red Bay hosted Sulligent for an area game this past Monday, and will travel to Tremont on Jan. 6th, and to Phil Campbell on Jan. 9th.
