Softball starts up for Golden Tigers

Suggs strikes out seven as Lady Golden Tigers edge Decatur 4-3
The Lady Golden Tigers (1-0) trailed 1-0 before scoring twice in the bottom of the second inning. Decatur answered with two runs in the top of the third to go back in front, but a pair of two-out hits by Brooke Borden and Kayla Cochran sparked a two-run rally in the bottom of the fourth as Russellville took the lead for good.
Jakari Suggs (1-0) allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits in seven innings, walking none.
Cochran finished one-for-three with a run, an RBI and a stolen base. Sydney Burcham was one-for-three with a double, and Lily Holt went one-for-three with a run scored. Morgan George was one-for-two with a triple and a walk, and Borden was one-for-three with a run, an RBI and a stolen base.
“It was a great opening win for us,” Head Coach John Smith said.
Golden Tigers fall 6-2  to Muscle Shoals
Brooke Borden and Morgan George led Russellville with one hit each versus Muscle Shoals. Emma Whitfield pitched all four innings, allowing six hits and six runs. Whitfield had 19 first pitch strikes. She also added two walks and three errors.
Lady Tigers out-slug Ardmore but fall 3-4
Sydney Burcham led Russellville with two hits versus Ardmore. Kalli Beth Daniel, Megan Brockway, Jakari Suggs and Kayla Cochran all had one hit each. Borden, Daniel and Burcham all led Russellville with one run each. Burcham, Brockway and Lilly Holt all had one RBI each.

Suggs pitched 3.1 innings, giving 11 first pitch strikes. Suggs allowed four hits and four runs. She also had one walk, two strikeouts and one error.
“We had the game in reach, but we’ve got to be more consistent and not have any errors,” Smith said.
Wild pitch gives Lady Tigers early lead, hold on for 11-7 win over Danville
Russellville had a big game, hitting nine times for 11 runs, and five RBI’s. The Golden Tigers had a big first inning, scoring five runs.
The Lady Tigers had four players with multi-hit games – Brooke Borden (2), Kallie Daniel (2), Sydney Burcham (2) and Jess Guzman (2). Megan Brockway added one hit. Daniel had game-high three runs, and she also had one RBI. Borden, Kayla Cochran and Burcham all had two runs apiece. Whitfield played all three innings, earning 16 first pitch strikes. Whitfield gave up eight hits and seven runs with three errors.
Russellville Golden Tigers get early lead over Rogers but can’t hang on in 4-5 loss
Kayla Cochran, Daniel, Burcham, and Senior Megan Brockway all led Russellville with one hit. Cochran, Burcham, Brockway and Guzman all led with one run each. Brockway had two RBI’s. Brockway and Suggs had Russellville’s two homeruns. Suggs pitched four innings. She had 15 first pitch strikes allowing seven hits and five runs with six strikeouts and one error.
