J.C. Gober

J.C. Gober, 90, passed away Feb. 23 at his daughter’s residence in Muscle Shoals. He was born in Hackleburg to Charles Edward Gober and Viola Hudson Gober. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II and had worked for the City of Red Bay. He was a member and deacon of Burnout Missionary Baptist Church.

Services were Feb. 27 at 2 p.m. at Burnout Missionary Baptist Church, Vina, with Bro. Fred Woodall officiating. Burial was in Burnout Cemetery, Vina.

Survivors are three children – Betty Bolton, Muscle Shoals, Donald Gober and wife Dorothy, Red Bay, and Laura Cabell and husband John, San Antonio, Texas; six grandchildren – Angela Scott and husband Todd, Daryl Gober, Dorinda Edwards and husband Kenneth, Derek Gober and wife Bethany, Elizabeth Stoll and John Cabell; seven great-grandchildren – Ivie Scott, Makenzie Edwards, Miles Edwards, Bailey Ann Gober, Henley Stoll, Walker Stoll and Davis Gober; two sisters – Charlene Oliver and Shirley Collum; and one brother – Jerry Gober.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Tiny Gober; his parents; four brothers, Clither, Etheridge, Hector and Edward Gober; and one sister, Ruby Lee Gober.

Pallbearers were Daryl Gober, Derek Gober, John Cabell, Todd Scott, Kenneth Edwards and Nash Hardin.

Visitation was Feb. 26 from 6-9 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, and he laid in state Feb. 27 from noon to 2 p.m. at Burnout Missionary Baptist Church.

The family extends special thanks to Hospice of the Shoals and especially Cynthia, Amanda and Dr. Webb.
