Belgreen celebrates Read Across America Week
This year Belgreen participated in Read Across America Week with many Dr. Seuss books as well as STEM activities.
Monday, each class enjoyed making unique hats for a Cat in the Hat parade. Tuesday, students shook up some homemade butter and decided if they ate toast with the butter side up or the butter side down.
Wednesday was a day for wacky hair and crazy socks that ended in a Crazy Sock Parade.
Thursday was a tribute to a Dr. Seuss classic, “Oh, the Places You Will Go.” Students dressed up for their future careers and had the opportunity to visit the Career Tech. Center. There, the students visited the different career paths offered to county school students – small engine repair, welding, computer, drafting, auto body shop, cosmetology, woodworking, and health occupations and sciences.
To wrap up the week, students mixed green oobleck from the Kingdom of Didd. Kindergarteners also started their day with a serving of green eggs and ham.
The goal for Read Across America Week, as well as every other week, is to encourage students to enjoy picking up a book and reading.
